Since my last post, I’ve been working hard on various projects for my sister’s wedding, which took place last weekend. I can finally share all the details! All of the below photos were taken by Vicki Grafton at My Simple Details, located in the Washington D.C. area.
Here are the placecards I made. The Bride decided on silver writing on deep purple cards. The writing is free-style. We added a snowflake stamp to go with the winter theme. Table names were assigned on the back of each card. These were placed in ornaments, which doubled as take-home favors.
Here is a “Reserved” sign I made for the first few rows at the ceremony. The backing is made with the same purple paper as the placecards, and I added a light blue paper with a snowflake pattern for the top layer. I punched the corners with a lace corner hole-punch from Fiskers. The writing is ALS Script. The florist, Holly of Holly Heider Chapple Flowers, added the purple ribbon to tie on the chair.
Here is a sample from the candy bar. The bride and groom had 10-15 different candies, all in purple, blue, or silver wrapping, for guests to fill take-home bags. I made the labels for each of the candies in the same way I made the “Reserved” signs above. The florist did a beautiful job setting up the table with a variety of candy containers. The candy labels were either tied to the containers with purple ribbon, or held up by ornaments.
Finally, here is a Table Name Card. The Bride and Groom chose 16 places that were special to their relationship to use for table names. On the back of each card, they included a description of why these places were special to them. For these cards, I used the same light blue paper in the Candy Labels and Reserved signs as a backing. I then used a white polka-dot vellum for the second layer to write on. The writing is ALS Script. Holly Heider Chapple Flowers designed the card holders.

Below is a bridal shower invitation I made for my sister’s winter wedding.
* plain white cards from Michaels, 4 x 5.5 inches
* black and white print letterhead paper from Staples, cut to 2.5 x 4.25 inches
* blue vellum sheets from Michaels, cut to 2 x 3.75 inches
* white card stock paper, cut to 1 x 2.75 inches
* snowflake stickers from Michaels
* double sided tape
Just center and layer the materials as in the picture below. I wrote the text on the white card stock paper in French Script Calligraphy using violet Winsor & Newton ink.
